Christmas Shows 2018

We’re celebrating 10 years of consecutive Melbourne Christmas shows by donning the santa hats one more time for performances at the Caravan Music Club on Friday 14 December, the Spotted Mallard on Saturday 15 December and a kid-friendly matinee show on Sunday 16 December. Special guest for all shows is old world songbird and rising star, Freya Josephine Hollick.

Of course, they’ll be the usual offering of Christmas-related songs, the best of our extensive back catalogue, as well as special guests and more. Plus, a limited edition CD featuring live recordings of The Blackeyed Susans Christmas catalogue will be available for purchase exclusively at the shows. That’s right, for the first time you’ll be able to listen to our sublime version of The Velvet’s Jesus and/or our ridiculous version of Wham’s Last Christmas, whenever and wherever you like.

2018 saw the culmination of our Close Your Eyes and See album tour with a huge show at the Melbourne Recital Centre, complete with an extended line-up and string section. We're pleased to announce we’re taking the strings to Port Fairy as part of the Port Fairy Folk Festival in March, 2019. In fact, 2019 will mark our 30th anniversary together and what a damn fine excuse it will be to throw a party or two. So stay tuned for more info about that. In the meantime, come celebrate the end of another, sometimes wonderful, sometimes scary, year with us.

THIS FRIDAY~ BES w/ strings at The Melb Recital Centre

Hoping you can all be there to see and hear the stunning string arrangements our piano player Kiernan Box has worked on over the preceding months for this Friday’s show at The Melbourne Recital Centre.

It truly is something to behold. Colour, drama, beauty, lushness and grandeur. There will be 14 of us on stage ~ Jack Howard (Hunters & Collectors) joins us on trumpet and the uber-talented Clare Moore (Dave Graney and the Mistly) on vibraphone, along with our six piece string section.

Come one, come all ... step right up.

Special guests ~ instrumental leviathans  ~ The Hungry Ghosts.

See you there,
Susie X

Not long now...

Not long now until our Susans + Strings show at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Friday, April 20th. If you’re yet to secure a ticket you might like to take advantage of the new seats in the wings and circle areas that have just been released. The wings in particular look great for those that like a high vantage point with good views of the stage.  Location, loca…

We’re certainly excited about it. Six Blackeyed Susans + six string players + Clare Moore (The Moodists / Coral Snakes / Dave Graney & The Mistly) on Vibes + Jack Howard (Hunters & Collectors) on Trumpet = a bloody, big and beautiful band! Can't wait...scores are being written, set lists finalised, rehearsals booked…it’s gonna be lush.

Special guests are the the sublime instrumental leviathans ...HUNGRY GHOSTS, led by our own J.P. Shilo.
